Maurice (Skip) Dowding
In 1964 Skip founded Dowindg Industires, Inc. Starting as a tool and die shop for GM and Eaton Corporation, Skip soon added stamping operations to the organization’s list of services. Over the years, Skip and his wife, Karen, would continue to expand the business, growing into a 20,000-square-foot building in Albion, MI. Over the next 25 years, additional plants were purchased as the customer base continued to grow.
In 2007, Skip assumed the role of the Chairman of Board and passed the CEO torch on to his daughter, G. Christine Dowding. Skip chartered Chris with continuing the Dowding legacy with the objective given to grow the business & continue to “re-engineer” to provide employment opportunities for the community and family, for years to come.
Skip is a veteran of the U.S. Army Signal Corps and was stationed in Alaska during the Korean War. His special interests are flying, traveling and an occasional golf game. Skip has flown numerous “Angel Flights” for critically ill patients for special medical treatments. He is a member of the Rotary Club and enjoys his wife of 50-plus years, three children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
